KABALIKAT  BICOL - GAWAD KALASAG 2009 National winner (Best Private Volunteer Organization in the Philippines)

MALACANANG Palace, Manila (Aug. 12)  --  President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo led other government officials and guests during the awarding ceremonies for the 2009 National Gawad Kalasag, the highest award annually given by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) private volunteer and humanitarian organizations and the various Disaster and Coordinating Councils (DCCs) from the Municipal, Municipal and Provincial DCCs with exemplerary performance.

In the Private Volunteer Organization Category, Kabalikat Bicol headed by its regional governor Jennis Nidea (30-01), was adjudged as the national winner (Best Private Volunteer Organization in the Philippines).

PGMA assisted by Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and DILG Secretary Ronaldo V. Puno, personally handed the Presidential Plaque and cash prize of P70,000.00 to Nidea who was accompanied by Wilfredo B. San Andres, Jr. (276-08), regional vice govenor for Operations and CSur provincial chairman; Roberto Am. Julia (429-06), regional vice governor for administration and president of Magarao (KB429) chapter; Irvin C. Ayo (30-54), operations head; Ferdinand F. Abejero (219-14), regional secretary-general; Mrs. Marilyn E. Nidea (30-01 Alpha), wife of 30-01; Jojo Guadino (17-01), Makati (KN17) chapter president; James B. Maxwell (15-01), adviser of Taguig (KB15) and Makati chapters; Neil T. Celevante (276-47), BOD member of Milaor (KB276) chapter; Edwin Olitoquit (276-23), vice president for operations of Milaor (kb276) chapter and Charmaine Janice E. Nidea (30-216) of Naga City (KB30) chapter.

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol Regional Director Alejandro also joined the KB Bicol delegation during the awarding.

Other national winners from Bicol were: Albay PDCC as the best Provincial DCC; Calabanga DCC, best municipal DCC and Legaspi City DCC, 3rd place in the best City DCC.
