The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) yesterday warned that the Eastern section of Southern Luzon (Quezon, Cam. Sur, Cam. Norte, Catanduanes, Albay and Sorsogon) and the whole of Visayas (Samar, Northern and Southern Leyte) to prepare for widespread rains which may cause massive flashfloods and landslides.

In the wake of this development, Co-Founder & National President Jennis I. Nidea (30-01) urged all member-organizations of the KBNet Philippines to "always be ready to response to any call of distress."

PAGASA said that the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the Tail-End of a Cold Front are expected to continue its effect over said areas.

Added to this is the "Moderate to Strong La Niņa remains at its peak level."

However, according to La Niņa Watch, "It (La Niņa weather) will start to weaken this Spring (March-April-May 2011).

Report also added that "Considerable uncertainty remains whether La Niņa will extend thru Summer (May-June-July 2011) or whether there will be a transition to Neutral Conditions. The effects over Central & Southern Philippines will continue."

Nidea called on the officers and members of all chapters of the member-organizations (KB Bicol, KB Malaya, KB Mediacom, KBNet National Capital region and KBNet Quezon Province) to be always on alert and "be ready to assist the LGUs and the national government for any eventualities."
